Quadrilaterals

The screen of your cell phone, the window at your school, the diamond of a baseball field, and the kite (chichigua) you fly during Holy Week have something in common: they are all four-sided figures, called quadrilaterals. Depending on their sides, angles, and diagonals, they are grouped into families. By the end of this page you will be able to recognize each one and calculate its measurements.

A line of symmetry is a line that divides the figure into two halves that match when you fold the paper. The square has $4$ lines of symmetry: two pass through the midpoints of opposite sides and two pass through the diagonals. They all meet at one point, the center of the figure.
