Nitrogen compounds
The smell of fish that is not fresh, the painkiller in the medicine cabinet and the fibres of a climbing rope have something in common: they all contain nitrogen as part of an organic functional group. Amines, amides and nitriles are the three nitrogen families you will learn to name in this section.
