Kinematic variables: vector position, velocity, and acceleration
You are riding in a guagua (a local bus) along the Autopista Duarte, and your phone shows 60 km/h. When the bus takes a curve without braking, you still feel something pushing you sideways. Is there acceleration if the speed doesn't change? To answer, you need to describe motion in the plane with vectors: position, velocity, and acceleration. All motion in 2D is built on them.
The position vector

Average velocity and instantaneous velocity
Here we use "speed" for the scalar and "velocity" for the vector.
Direction of a vector: the angle
The angle $\theta$ that a vector makes with the positive $x$ semi-axis comes from its components:
$$\tan\theta = \frac{v_y}{v_x} \quad\Rightarrow\quad \theta = \arctan\frac{v_y}{v_x}$$This comes from the right triangle formed by the components and the vector. Look at the signs of $v_x$ and $v_y$ to locate the quadrant: the calculator gives an angle between $-90^\circ$ and $90^\circ$, which is only correct if $v_x > 0$. If $vx < 0$, add $180^\circ$.
Changing units: km/h and m/s
To convert from km/h to m/s, divide by 3.6, because $1\ \text{km/h} = \dfrac{1{,}000\ \text{m}}{3{,}600\ \text{s}} = \dfrac{1}{3.6}\ \text{m/s}$. To go the other way, multiply by 3.6.
