Rectilinear and Circular Motion

$$\vec{r}(t) = \left(x_0 + v_{0x}\,t + \tfrac12 a_x t^2\right)\vec{i} + \left(y_0 + v_{0y}\,t + \tfrac12 a_y t^2\right)\vec{j}$$ $$\vec{v}(t) = (v_{0x} + a_x t)\,\vec{i} + (v_{0y} + a_y t)\,\vec{j}$$

Braking and stopping distance

Stopping has two phases. During the reaction time the car keeps a constant velocity (URM): $d_r = v\,t_r$. Then it brakes with constant acceleration (UARM): $d_f = \dfrac{v^2}{2|a|}$. The total distance is $d = d_r + d_f$.
