Trigonometric Functions

At Boca Chica beach in Santo Domingo, the water rises and falls twice a day. A boat captain needs to know at what time the water will be deep enough to enter the port. That rise and fall, which repeats in exactly the same way, is described by trigonometric functions, now worked with the radian as the unit. At the end of the page you will also see why alternating current reaches its maximum at very precise rhythms.
