Parity of a function
A Dublin Bus app predicts arrival times, and the error is counted the same whether the bus is 3 minutes early or 3 minutes late. This symmetry, which you met in Junior Cycle for simple polynomials, is extended in Leaving Certificate Higher Level to rational, trigonometric and composite functions.

Graphs, values and parameters
On a graph, an even function is mirrored in the y-axis, so $f(-x)=f(x)$. An odd function has rotational symmetry about the origin, so $f(-x)=-f(x)$. If you know $f$ for $x\ge 0$, you can complete the rest. For example, if $f$ is odd and $f(5)=7$, then $f(-5)=-7$.
