Typical structure
There are usually two options (A and B) to choose from, each with several problems. You have 90 minutes, and the procedure is valued, not just the result: explaining your steps earns points.
The most common topics
- Calculus (the one with the most weight): derivatives and applications (optimization, graphing), limits, and integrals and area calculation.
- Algebra: matrices, determinants, and systems of equations.
- Geometry (in the Science track): vectors, lines, and planes in space.
- Probability: conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, and, in Social Sciences, inference.
How to prepare for it
- Do past exams. The types of problems are repeated; it is the best preparation.
- Master derivatives and integrals first: they are the section with the most points and always appear.
- Write down all the steps. In the EvAU, the working out counts; a result on its own loses marks.
- Time yourself to finish with time to spare.
